Article asserts that progress on mine clearance and accession to the Mine Ban Treaty are not moving forward swiftly enough. Notes that the issue was denied until February 2012, when the Prime Minister, Thein Sein, requested assistance in clearing mined areas from visiting European delegations. Article highlights that Mine Risk Education is still carried on in secrecy by NGOs which provide it. The article states that the use of mines still carries very little stigma in Myamnar/Burma.
