“During the on-going civil war in our country, both sides – the Burmese regime and the ethnic armed groups – have continuously used landmines. War has displaced people and caused grave injuries such as losing eyes or legs or body parts.

We lack necessary physical and metal rehabilitation programs for them. More importantly, no one should use landmines any more in order not to hinder post-conflict development.

I would like to request all armed groups to halt use of mine since it has been the most dangerous impact imposed on economic, social sectors and physical and mental conditions of our country.”
