Kokang boy, 10, dies from landmine blast, Democratic Voice of Burma, 27 February 2015.
The landmine incident occurred in Konkyan Township of Shan State, an area not previously identified by the Landmine Monitor to be mine contaminated.
The area was formerly ceded to the control of the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army as Special Region One (Kokang) in 1989, but seized by the Myanmar Army in an operation in 2009. Armed conflict for the control of the area recommenced this month.
The boy survived the landmine blast but perished later due to blood loss after being rushed across the border to a hospital in Nansan, China. They boy was collecting firewood near his house in the village of Chahaw which was near the renewed fighting according to a news report.
