Some Bangladeshi Buddhist hilltribes, believed to have been crossing the border in search of work in Myanmar were injured by landmines on the Myanmar side, and one was killed according to a Radio Free Asia news report. Border Guard Bangladesh took five survivors of the incident to a Bangladeshi Army camp for treatment.

The the Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban border district of Bangladesh was quoted as saying that 12 people had been killed by mines laid on the Myanmar side of the border since early September 2017, which included 5 Bangladeshi nationals, and 7 Myanmar nationals.
